  • Last month, the British Medical Association (BMA) adopted a neutral stance on the issue of assisted dying following a vote with a very narrow margin: 49% of the BMA’s representative body voted in favour of a motion for it to move to a position of neutrality on assisted dying, including physician assisted dying, with 48% against it and 3% abstaining.

The Physicians’ Alliance against Euthanasia has participated in the debate around what is now called “medical aid in dying” (MAiD) since 2012, and many of our individual members long before that. Call to Action: Public Consultation by the Select Committee on the Evolution of the Act respecting end-of-life care

Dear friends,

The Quebec Select Committee on the Evolution of the Act respecting end-of-life care issued a news release (only available in French) on June 28th, 2021, announcing that it is entering the next phase of its tenure, which includes a public consultation.

The Committee has invited the public to express their views on the expansion of medical assistance in dying (MAiD) for people who are incapable of decision-making and for those whose only medical problem is a mental illness.
