It proposes changing the law so that individuals who are terminally ill, with less than six months to live can request assistance in the form of lethal drugs to end their lives.<\/li><li>In an open letter to Health Secretary Sajid Javid 1,689 signatories, including current and retired doctors, nurses, pharmacists and medical students,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/uk\/sajid-javid-doctors-tom-davies-house-of-lords-assisted-dying-bill-b961519.html\">voiced their \u2018great concern\u2019 over the proposed Assisted Dying Bill&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/uk\/sajid-javid-doctors-tom-davies-house-of-lords-assisted-dying-bill-b961519.html\">&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/uk\/sajid-javid-doctors-tom-davies-house-of-lords-assisted-dying-bill-b961519.html\">and warn that any change to the law will leave the vulnerable at risk of &#8220;abuse&#8221;<\/a>, and undermine the patient-doctor relationship.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">CANADIAN NEWS:<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Last week, on October 20th, the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.assnat.qc.ca\/Media\/Process.aspx?MediaId=ANQ.Vigie.Bll.DocumentGenerique_177815&amp;process=Original&amp;token=ZyMoxNwUn8ikQ+TRKYwPCjWrKwg+vIv9rjij7p3xLGTZDmLVSmJLoqe\/vG7\/YWzz\">2020\u20132021 annual activity report&nbsp;<\/a>of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.assnat.qc.ca\/en\/travaux-parlementaires\/commissions\/cssfv-42-2\/index.html\">Select Committee on the Evolution of the Act respecting end-of-life care<\/a>&nbsp;was tabled by Health Minister Christian Dub\u00e9 on the website of the Quebec National Assembly, without an official announcement.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The report (available in French only) includes many important issues that deserve the attention of physicians and the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It indicates that deaths due to euthanasia are increasing and now account for 3.3% of deaths in Quebec:&nbsp;MAiD in hospital (48%), home (39%), CHSLD (8%) and palliative care homes (5%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.convivium.ca\/articles\/deadline-looms-to-save-hospice-society\/\">Deadline Looms to Save Hospice Society<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday October 22<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;was the
